I ADORE this hat!! It was so quick and easy to make and I love the finished hat ❤️
Follow this easy tutorial and make a cute bucket hat like this one. I made one with 2 colours and another with a solid colour. If you prefer to do the solid colour hat, ignore the colour change suggestions.
Notes
- This pattern uses US terms
- It’s best to use a stitch marker, removing it when you get to that stitch and replacing once you’ve done that stitch.
- For this pattern I use a smaller hook than suggested because I didn’t want holes and my tension is loose. But use whichever hook works for you and that you are comfortable with.
Materials used
- 3.5 mm hook
- Stylecraft special DK – Pale rose, Stylecraft special DK – White
- stitch marker
- tapestry needle

Terminology used
- Sc = single crochet
- Sts = stitches
- HDC =half double crochet
- ch = chain
Pattern
Round 1: Ch 1. 10Hdc. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made. [10sts]
Round 2: Ch 1. 2Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made [20sts]
Round 3: Ch 1. (2Hdc. Hdc.) Repeat from ( to ) around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made. [30sts]
Round 4: Ch 1. (2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches.) Repeat from ( to ) around. Join with a Slip stitch to the first Hdc made. [40sts]
Round 5: Ch 1. (2Hdc. Hdc in the next 3 stitches.) Repeat from ( to ) around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made. [50sts]
Round 6: Ch 1. (2Hdc. Hdc in the next 4 stitches.) Repeat from ( to ) a total of 6 times. Hdc To the end of the round. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. [56sts]
Round 7 – 12: Ch 1. Hdc around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made. [56sts]
Color Change
Round 13 – 15: Ch 1. Hdc around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made. [56sts]
Color Change back to main colour
Round 16: Ch 1. 2Hdc in each stitch around. [112sts]
Round 17 – 19: Ch 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Hdc made. [112sts]
Color Change
Round 20: Ch 1. Sc around. Join with a Slip Stitch to the first Sc made. [112sts]
Finish off. Weave in ends
